Universal Spiritual Laws – The Magic of Letting God Flow Through You

Universal Spiritual Laws – wisdom shared by an Ascended Master:

This fantastic passage from the Life and Teachings of the Masters of the Far East is a lesson worth learning in my opinion.  I believe an important concept is being shared in this passage about Universal Spiritual laws that may apply to All humanity, if they only accept it’s possible.

Spirit in motion symbolically

Holding on to truth: I feel it’s human nature for humanity to want to hold on to wisdom they have gained and not share it with others.  In my experience I have to ask myself, how many times have I heard a great truth and then held onto it like a cherished possession? However, when the wisdom one is attuning to and learning is not main stream it becomes even more of a challenge to share it because those you share it with must be ready to understand the wisdom.  How many in this day and age are ready for the concepts shared in this passage and want to consider it a possibility?

Let God and Wisdom Flow:  Master Emil makes a wonderful and, I feel, valid point in these paragraphs from the book. The point is, when one contacts God’s ideas if one doesn’t share them with others, one doesn’t receive the benefit from the learning. One is not capable of learning more.  In this passage of the book, Master Emil shares an allegorical lesson about receiving God’s energy and ideas like a water wheel receives water. He speaks of sharing this with others and not holding on to it or being silent. In this example he compares stagnant, inert water in a water pitcher like those who hold on to truth and keep trying to receive without pouring it out of the pitcher.  He asks what happens if we neglect to let the energy and wisdom flow freely from us.

The challenge: It’s a challenge to give to others when they don’t want to know or receive what we are trying to share. We have to be careful not to interfere in others free will choices and yet be optimistic to share with those who want to know. Humanity is not quick to accept new ideas. If one is close minded and not open to new concepts and new universal spiritual laws or ideas that is their prerogative.  I feel we must respect their choice.  On the other hand, I feel it’s also important keep our wits intact and not be easily fooled or gullible either. In the end one should take such matters in to meditation and consider them, doing inner and outer research and then come to solid conclusions.

When Jesus spoke in the bible, “Matthew 18:3 KJV: And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.  I think this reference meant we need to be open minded and not set in our beliefs so much so that we close off to consider new concepts.  This is how we grow as soul consciousness in my opinion.  Little children are open and receptive to new ideas, God’s ideas.  We as adults would be wise in my opinion to follow this advice.

be as little children to enter the kingdom of heaven

A man of Advanced years: I also love the reference to the age of Master Emil being a man of advanced years. In this book Master Emil is an Ascended Master and yet the author takes a long time to be convinced of the truth being conveyed to him by a Master even though he is seeing this so called miracle with his own eyes.  The intellect of the scientist Baird T. Spalding gets in the way.  In our American society, which is so caught up in appearances, science and technology we are hard to convince of the anything new that is not believed by the  majority, especially something taboo like the paranormal.  Yet the Bible is full of paranormal and supernatural occurrences.  Regarding Emils age, Baird T. Spalding has set beliefs about age, like many in our society. The young often think the old are incapable.  We as a society set precedents or hold strong and fast to our learned beliefs.  For example many believe the elderly are not capable of contributing much of anything.  In my experience, if someone has a firm set belief they will not budge or consider a new idea even if it can be proven to them with their own eyes,  just like Baird T. Spalding who saw the truth with his own eyes.

Universal Spiritual Laws: The Ascended Masters blow those social norms out of the water with their Infinite intelligence. In this quote below from the Life and Teachings books Master Emil expresses that the Ascended Masters accept and know this truth as a normal occurrence in their lives.  Their understanding and concept of eternity and all things is unlimited.  Just imagine if humanity considered what he is saying a reality and implemented it.  Didn’t Jesus come to also teach us about the true immortal and unlimited nature of humanity with his Ascension?  Doesn’t this mean that we can also rise above the limited mortal nature?  If we only dared to, what will happen to us?  What would happen to our world and our own individual lives?

universal spiritual laws

This is verbatim quote from the Life and Teachings of the Masters of the Far East by Baird T. Spalding.

( Volume 1 page 5 and 6) For when an idea from God-mind has been contacted by one man and sent out through the spoken word, cannot one, or all, again contact that thought in the Universal? Because one has contacted the idea and sent it out, it does not follow that it is his particular possession. If he did appropriate and hold it, where would be room for receiving? To receive more we must give out what we have received. If we withhold what we receive, stagnation will follow and we will be like the wheel that generates power from the water and suddenly, of its own volition, begins to withhold the water which it is using. It will soon find itself stifled with inert water. It is only when the water is allowed to flow freely through that it is of value to the wheel to create power. Just so with man. When he contacts God’s ideas he must give them out in order to receive the benefit from them. He must allow all to do the same, that they may grow and develop as he is growing.

We arrived at the appointed village about four o’clock of the fifth day and there was Emil to greet us, as he had agreed. Can you imagine our amazement? We were quite certain we had come by the only traveled route and by the swiftest mode of locomotion in that country, except as the couriers go. They travel in relays and go night and day. Here was a man well advanced in years, as we thought, and one we felt would in nowise be able to negotiate a journey of ninety miles in less time than it required us to do the same—yet, here he was.

Of course we all tried to ask questions at once and were eager to hear. These were his words, “I said when you departed that I would be here to greet you—I am here. I wish to call your attention more fully to the fact that man in his right domain is limitless, knows no limit of time or space. Man, when he knows himself, is not obliged to toil wearily along for five days to accomplish ninety miles. Man in his right estate can accomplish any distance, it matters not the magnitude, instantly. A moment ago I was in the village from which you departed five days ago. What you saw as my body still reposes there.

Your associate, whom you left in that village, will tell you that, until a few moments before four o’clock, I conversed with him, stating that I would go to greet you as you would arrive here about this hour. What you saw as my body is still there and your associate still beholds it, although it is at present inactive. This was done simply to show you that we are able to leave our bodies and greet you at any appointed place, at any specified time. The two who accompanied you could have accomplished the journey as I have. In this way you will more readily realize that we are only ordinary humans of the same source as you; that there is no mystery but that we have developed the powers given all by the Father, the Great Omnipotent One, more fully than you have. My body will remain where it is until night, then I will bring it here and your associate will proceed on his way here as you did, arriving in due time. After a day’s rest we will journey to a small village, one day off, where we will tarry one night, then return here and meet your associate to see what his report will be. We will assemble this evening in the lodge. In the meantime, farewell.”

lifting ones spiritual vibration

In the evening, after we had assembled, Emil, without opening the door, suddenly appeared in our midst and said, “You have seen me appear in this room, as you would say, by magic. Let me say there is no magic about it. Here is a simple experiment which you can behold. You can see this, consequently you will believe. Kindly gather around so that you can see. We have a small glass of water which one of your number has just brought from the spring. You see that a minute particle of ice is forming in the very center of the water. You see it gather to itself, particle by particle, more ice, until now the whole of the water in the glass is frozen. What has happened? I held the central atoms of the water in the Universal until they became formed or, in other words, I lowered their vibrations until they became ice and all the other particles formed around them until the whole has become ice. You can apply this to the little glass, the tub, the pond, the lake, the sea, the whole mass of the water of the earth. What would happen? All would be frozen, would it not? To what purpose? None. You ask by what authority. I say by using a perfect law.

But in this case, to what end? Nothing, as no good has been accomplished or could be accomplished. Had I gone on determined to carry this out fully, what would have happened? The reaction. To whom? To me. I know the law and what I express returns to me as truly as I express it. Therefore, I express only the good and the good returns to me only as good. You can readily see that, had I persisted in the freezing, the cold would have reacted upon me long before I had accomplished the end and I would, in reaping the harvest of my desire, have been frozen. Whereas, if I express the good, I reap the harvest of my good eternally.”

A spiritual journey begins

A spiritual journey begins

A spiritual journey begins:

As early as I can remember I have felt the presence of something higher, divine in nature. In fact, I grew up on a farm in Ohio and life could not have been simpler and more carefree than when I was three years old. I remember further back than three but it was when I was about three when I recall feeling the presence of spirits or spiritual energies around me.

Innocence: I realize that I was on a spiritual path now but way back when I was a child being spiritual came naturally. It was a natural state of being and I feel most children below a certain age of maturity have a natural spirituality.  I didn’t have the capacity to question what I was experiencing and doubt it as I did later when I “grew up”.  I just knew I was experiencing something beautiful and real. Now that I look back I have become aware it was the presence of God I was feeling.

I was raised Catholic. In my many visits to the church, I felt the same feeling I had running around in nature. After all, God is everywhere present, not only in churches. I also felt a close connection with the stories and images of Jesus.  I especially remember the quotes that made me feel so loved by him.

Jesus with little children

Matthew 19:14:  “but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”

Now that I am grown up and look back I think of what I have learned throughout my life. I have studied Holy books and many other books that may be considered fiction. Yet whether books were fiction or not, many rang with words of wisdom my soul could identify with. I feel we as humans have an inner intuition that helps us identify our own inner truth. Through studying and reading what other great minds have experienced as well as remembering my own experiences as a young child, I have learned the kingdom of heaven is very close when we are first born and very young. There are reasons children are more perceptive to the heaven world.

I always loved the stories about Jesus and his life and the feeling I had when I was at church or catechism learning spiritual things. I wasn’t bored and ornery like some of the other children there. I actually found learning about spiritual topics interesting as a child.

Childhood innocence versus “maturity”

As I grew up and spent my adolescence in the 70’s experiencing the age of modern materialism. The advertising and social conditioning I experienced growing up in America and going to school threatened my childhood innocence. That is a normal phenomenon. I feel it is important to keep aspects of the inner child active and alive.  That is quite a task in this culture we live in. To totally throw the inner innocence away is truly a betrayal of the inner child consciousness Jesus referred to as a necessary quality one must possess to enter the kingdom of heaven.  This is what teenagers and adolescents face on a daily basis in most civilized nations.

peer pressure

The pain of peer pressure

To make matters complicated I often felt misunderstood. I didn’t feel understood by my peers. I was way too “deep” for them. My friends often told me if I go to college I should pursue theology as a major because I was deep and always questioning things. I loved the BIG questions.  Why am I here?  What is the purpose of living? What does one experience in space?  Is there life on other planets?  These seem to be the questions a lot of other people just didn’t want to ask or have an interest in. But why? I was perplexed.  Why didn’t they want to know these things? Where were the people like me who wanted to know these things and better yet, where would I find the answers to these questions?

Later, I would come to realize that having these questions is a part of the experience and nature of soul searching. The pressures of growing up and experiencing injustice, ridicule, and indifference from others are part of the pressure of life that makes one grow through diversity and pain. Now I know, without the experience, I would not have come to know myself. This caused me to question and search for understanding. It also caused me to have compassion and humility because I was able to empathize with others going through the same experience. As hard as these experiences are, I believe they help us in many ways if we face them head on and try to understand why they are happening.

Becoming an “adult”

I found myself getting caught up in the throes of modern society and the search for a job and completing my education. Being a spiritual person is a great attribute but unless you decide to get a degree in theology and have the money to devote your life to the study it usually means living a life of poverty. After my graduation from high school in 1981, I had some major decisions to make. Jobs were scarce in Ohio and my family was not a rich one that could send me to college. It was then my family convinced me it would be a good move to enter the military and “make something of my life”.

English houses

Off to the Military:

So, I joined the Air Force. I was stationed in England for my first military duty assignment.  I was told at the last minute I was assigned to go to England but the weather there was so much like Ohio that I cringed at the idea of “more” rain and bone-chilling cold winters!  I must admit I didn’t fare well in the cold and rain and it became very challenging for me physically to live in England.

Despite the challenges of the weather, I did well in the Military and worked through it successfully. Even in the 198o’s the Military could be a challenge to navigate and “fit in” as a woman in a man’s world. In many ways, I didn’t feel like I fit in with the military paradigm. There were growing pains to be felt in traveling through this process but I learned a lot about myself and acquired needed skills. I often expressed this quandary of opposites with my mother in our long conversations from afar.

The Light in Britain

Standing stones at Avebury,

Spending over two years in England captivated and captured my imagination and spirit.  the country was breathtaking and so green and invitingly magical. This was the beginning of my spiritual journey. I was able to experience traveling around the English countryside. I traveled to Paris and Greece. However, there was a feeling welling up within me that I couldn’t explain or deny.

A powerful force began to awaken within me again while I was in this magical land. It was the same feeling I had in nature when I was a child and in church when I felt “that Presence” I came to know as God.

However, this time that presence was accompanied by a soul-wrenching feeling that I “needed to know something”.  I felt unfulfilled but why? I had a successful career in the military. I was secure and had friends around me and enough to live. Yet there was some important piece of my being that felt “off”. This puzzled me greatly enough that it spawned a quest for information, for truth. It felt like a part of my soul was missing or something.  It was a very painful and lonely feeling. Perhaps I was having the dark night of the soul some authors have written about?

The love of a mother:

Spiritual Journey

Original drawing by JoAnn (loving mother) – A Rainbow Bridge to Spirit

My mother was always so instrumental in my life. I think we often overlook the assistance of those close to us and don’t realize how instrumental they are in our growth. She thought like I did and had a very similar outlook. We were kindred spirits. Being a librarian and very well read, she often brought to my attention spiritual principles and ideas through the books she read. This guidance helped tremendously. I dearly loved her gentle, loving soul. I now realize she was not only my mother but a spiritual teacher and a great blessing to me.  While in England, she sent me a book entitled “The Light in Britain” by Grace and Ivan Cooke. This started me on a spiritual quest that has been the greatest experience of my life.

The true spiritual journey begins:

Even though my spiritual path actually began when I was a toddler, the conscious realization that I was on that journey didn’t set in until the pain of feeling a lack of fulfillment set in.  It was this realization that there was something more I needed to know and perhaps even do that urged me to research and read spiritual books.  The Light in Britain was a great influence on my life and one that set in motion many other questions.

Lessons Learned in the school of life:

spiritual path

Original photo of a large crystal ball with moving water at an atrium.

It’s easy as one grows into an adult to forget the simple beautiful truth God demonstrates through all kingdoms, natural and otherwise. If one buys into the perceptions of marketing and materialism completely losing sight of our spiritual origins and begins to believe that we are only material beings and nothing more; I feel this outlook is very destructive on the other more subtle levels of our consciousness such as the emotions and the spirit.

This play of life we find ourselves involved in is the true school that assists us to learn the balance between the material physical existence which so-called maturity of our societal expectations bring versus the inner peace and tranquility of meditation, going within to realize and explore inner innocence, simplicity, and spiritual understanding.

Material versus spiritual

One may believe they are only material and nothing more, to be snuffed out into nothingness when the body dies.  It’s true that free will and personal choice are the right of every person to have. I honor your personal choice. You have to travel your own path and be OK with it.  If you believe you are only a physical being, here today and gone after death into nothingness, then peace to you.

But for those who seek to know more about the nature of existence, I say keep on the path of searching for your answers. Don’t give up. Find like-minded people to be your friends and align yourself with them as kindred spirits. We have a lot to contribute to one another.

Balance is the key:

spiritual balance

I have learned many things I have come to embrace as truth for me. This learning and striving have set me free in many ways. I have only experienced dissatisfaction when I have sought for material success and possessions. It is important to have a balance of these pursuits.

The material world is important to a degree of course but not at the expense of my spirituality and inner exploration. I still do not deny the value and need of the material things in my life.

I am continuing to rid myself of superstitious fears and beliefs that limit my perceptions and lower my vibration. I am not perfect yet but continue to strive for the balance needed for a happy consciousness rooted in God.  Striving, trying, searching, questioning and striving to learn more is important.

Spiritual exploration and searching is a lifelong pursuit in my opinion. We are all a small facet of the consciousness of God and in the bigger scope of things, we are all one. In my opinion, these are important keys to understanding to experience a happy existence.

I will be sharing my spiritual journey and experiences and aspects of my spiritual experiences in this blog. It is my hope sharing my experience may help you in some way. If sharing my experience brings you any comfort, peace, and understanding, terrific!

Spiritual Quest for Wisdom & Truth

Spiritual Quest for Wisdom & Truth

Where did my spiritual quest for wisdom, truth, and guidance begin?

peace lotusMy name is Julie. I wrote this article to share how my spiritual quest for wisdom started. We all have our story and I’m sure many who visit this site may have had similar experiences.  I hope this article helps you if you have an interest in any of these topics shared on this blog.

I was raised in the Catholic faith from birth to graduation from school. Starting at the young age of three I enjoyed a rich spiritual experience of imaginary playmates, as many children do.  Of course, at that age, I didn’t have a spiritual quest for truth yet.

spiritual quest

I can remember those “imaginary” playmates very well and yet am now in my fifties. I laugh because I remember having long conversations with some of them, at the age of three and four.

Over the years, primarily through reading books, I have learned of the many spiritual nature kingdoms that exist on the Earth.

The inhabitants of England and the ancient islands of antiquity have many tails of interacting with fairies, gnomes, and many other interesting creatures.

I believe now that children especially are much more open to seeing the higher planes of life from an early age. Most adults simply think the children are experiencing great imaginations.

Theosophy, for example, in its vast realm of shared knowledge has taught extensively on the subject of the spiritual gifts and abilities some have to see higher spiritual planes that intertwine with our own here on Earth.

This blog will focus on interesting and thought stimulating books and subjects you may find valuable as tools to explore to determine if these things are real. If you find yourself having had or still have these experiences, you are not alone.

If you have or still do experience these types of spiritual things, you are not crazy and you have a right to express your feelings.  There are many others like you in the world and now there is enough freedom in most places on Earth to voice our opinions without being put in a mental institution, tortured and killed as many have been in the past.

fairy cartoonPerhaps those “imaginary” playmates were spirit beings or guides communicating with me?

It was intriguing to me and it was enough to start me on a spiritual quest. The experiences brought such comfort and joy to me.

Being raised in the Catholic faith, no validity or acknowledgment was given to such experiences and my other family members gave them no credibility.

It wasn’t popular to talk about these experiences and I found ridicule or teasing was most likely the end result from my peers. Although I must admit, I felt the presence of God in the church and knew instinctively that a little truth is found everywhere.

The subjects taught about the Saints in catechism were very interesting to me.  It was as though I had heard them before somehow. I was inspired by these great people who sacrificed and gave so much love, literally putting their lives on the line.

Dream World

Having a very rich dream life, I often felt the guidance and companionship of others in the spirit realm of sleep. I would bring those experiences back with me in the waking state and they meant a lot to me and were very comforting.

I was very fortunate to have a mother that was very accepting of my experiences which helped tremendously. This opened my mind and provided spiritual food for thought and growth. She was an avid reader and loved to explore and share spiritual topics with me later on in her life after she stepped outside superstition, fear, and confining dogma enough.

Two books my mother shared with me sparked my interest especially.  One book was shared when I was a teenager. This one spoke of reincarnation and it fascinated me and made total sense.
